The Goodship music venue at risk of closure

Kilburn could loose its last remaining music venue, The Goodship.

The police and Brent Council’s licensing committee are enforcing changes to the venues opening hours, that the Owner says will close them down.

Timeout reports that, John McCooke, owner of the Goodship said:

‘The big problem is the authorities said we’re not allowed to let anyone in after 2am. It means crowds build up: sometimes we’ve had 60 people outside. This is the core of the problem, it causes all sorts of grief.’

‘I’ve told them if we close early, we close down.’

Kilburn’s last music venue has a late licence until 4am on weekends but due to alleged drunkenness and street brawling, there’s mounting pressure to close it earlier.
