Kilburn Pawnbrokers

Kilburn is going upmarket and the High Rd isn’t far behind, for example we’ve recently seen local popular pubs make strides to undergo reinvention. Even the pawnbrokers refuse to sit idly by. Kilburn PawnBrokers is changing its name to Old English jewellers.

The pawnbrokers of 9 Kilburn High Road is leaving behind its current no-frills functional brand with garish ‘WE BUY ANY GOLD’ signage. In place we’ll see a more refined and distinguished old-fashioned jewellers facade that cleverly disguises its pawnbroker business model.

The application for signage change and new fit-out was made by The Money Shop, who also own a payday lender premises just a stones throw away.

With Brent council’s new policy on bookies, pay-day lenders and pawnbrokers coming into play, this is a strategic move to play down the pawnbroker image.
